[This is] the real reason why Ozai hates Zuko so much.
Zuko, as we all know, is the firstborn son of Fire Lord Ozai and Ursa. Why, then, does Ozai hate Zuko so much?
There's the obvious reason: He hates Zuko because Azula is a better firebender than Zuko. However, we know that, while being a worse firebender than Azula, Zuko is an above-average firebender. So, that doesn't seem like a good reason for Ozai to dislike him so much.
Even before Zuko's famous banishment occured, Ozai held him in disfavor. Why is that?
I heard an interesting theory made by someone on an avatar forum once (I am not the creator of this theory) and I thought it would be a good theory for KO's repository of Avatar speculation.
The theory states that the real reason that Ozai hates Zuko is because of a prophecy made either before Zuko was born or shortly after that stated that Zuko would betray the Fire Nation using Sozen's Comet. Pretty far fetched, right?
But, the person who brought this bit of speculation up brought up an excellent point: Zuko's scar.
If you look at Zuko's scar closely, it resembles a comet.

The dark red part around his eye would be the nucleus of the comet, and the lighter red part resembles the coma and tail.
The theory obviously draws parallels to Harry Potter and his prophecy, but it still is interesting and makes sense.
